Dental Cleaning & Exams

The most fundamental components of a healthy smile are cleanings and exams. To get your oral care in the best condition, you should be going to the dentist every 6 months. If you are prone to oral care problems, then you should be visiting more often.

Professional Teeth Cleaning Benefits

Our hygienists are trained to keep your teeth looking the way you want them to. Plaque on your teeth can cause tooth decay, gum disease, and gingivitis. Not only do regular cleanings get rid of plaque, but they also prevent plaque and the consequences of it.

While your brushing and flossing at home is helpful, it does not compare to what our professionals can do. With their skills and utilizing dental technology, they can access areas that your toothbrush can’t reach. On top of that, professional cleanings also removes tartar; another oral care issue that can arise. Ultimately, it is cost effective to be proactive instead of reactive. Fixing a bigger dental problem that went unchecked will end up costing you much more than routine dental cleanings and exams.

Examination Benefits

Dental examinations are very important to your oral heath and preventing other problems from occurring. Exams identify current and/or potential dental problems and allow you to begin treatment early; preventing, curing, or isolating the issues before they become worse. Regular dental exams will, in the long run, save you more time and money as festering dental issues can be outrageously time consuming and expensive.

Appointment Expectations

During a typical exam and cleaning visit, our hygienists will clean your teeth (also known as a prophylaxis.) using special tools that will remove plaque and tartar. Then they will polish your teeth for a beautiful, sparkling smile. After your cleaning, they will take x-rays and our dentists will inspect the x-rays, teeth, and gums for any potential problems. Depending on the results of the exam, our dentist may recommend additional treatment.
