Dental Implant Placement Process

The dental implant process is pretty simple and usually only takes one surgery. The first step is to implant the very small titanium posts in the area of the jawbone where your tooth is missing. The bone will bond with the titanium (during osseointegration) and the gums with heal over the course of several weeks.

In the next step, the implant will be fitted to the posts that are in your gum and surgery will be done to place the implant. It may take up to six months for the bone to fully grow around the implant. At Polished Dentistry, we offer different forms of sedation to make this process more comfortable for you.

When you get your mini implant, our dentist will numb the area to create a small space for the screws. We then will insert around six mini implants and tighten the implant to the screws. Finally, your denture will be retrofitted with a metal housing so the denture can snap into place.

Overdentures

This is the most conventional or common type of denture / dental implant. These dentures are designed to fit over the remaining healthy teeth and use those teeth as anchors. While overdentures can take more time to fit and cost a bit more, they are also the easiest and most comfortable dentures to wear.
