What is NTI Treatment?
NTI (Nociceptive Trigeminal Inhibition) essentially means to prevent pain in the nerves of the jaw; more specifically, jaw pain caused by teeth clenching and grinding that is often brought on by stress. This jaw pain can lead to headaches, or, in some cases, migraine headaches.
NTI-TSS Guard
A NTI-TSS guard is a custom-fitted, small plastic device that you place on your top or bottom front teeth that will prevent you from clenching your jaw. This in turn will relax your jaw muscles and reduce your jaw pain and/or headaches.
How Do I Get A NTI-TSS Guard?
The first step is to give us a call and schedule an appointment. During your appointment, our Dentist will examine your mouth to evaluate whether or not a NTI-TSS guard would be a treatment option for you. If so, your dentist will take an impression of your mouth and ship the mold to a lab that will create a guard custom fitted to your teeth. In a couple weeks, your guard will arrive and we will schedule a time for you to come into the office to ensure the guard properly fits and answer any questions you may have.
